Indus Valley civilization:
Mainly located in the ancient Pakistani cities of Menjodaro and Harappa (at the valleys around the Indus and Ravi rivers), the Indus Valley civilization is the earliest urban centre of the Indian subcontinent, and is classified amongst the oldest known human civilizations. Researchers have concluded that this civilization flourished from around 800 BC to 1500 BC. Then, for unknown reasons it disintegrated and was forgotten; only to be discovered in the 1920s.The more often visited Moenjodaro is 440 Km northeast of Karachi and is easily accessible from all major cities of Pakistan. A stunning museum is established there, displaying a collection of artifacts representing the evolutionary periods of human cultural life in Pakistan. An airport at a walking distance serves it with scheduled flights.

The Indus Valley civilization is especially well respected for their remarkable town planning and civil engineering, as well as the fact that they seemed to have a form of organized government. To add to the fascinating charm of the Indus Valley, the discovered language and texts of the Indus valley civilization remains a mystery.

One of the most fascinating and oldest remnants of past civilization, Moenjodaro and Harappa are MUST SEE destinations for those interested in history, geography, archeology, and town planning. Images of Moenjodaro and Harappa can be browsed below.
