Pakistani book shortlisted for regional prize |

KARACHI: Rana Dasgupta of Britain and Daniyal Mueenuddin of Pakistan have been adjudged the writers of best book and first best book, respectively, from the South Asia and Europe region by the jury of the 2010 Commonwealth Writers’ Prize.
Mr Dasgupta’s book “Solo” and Mr Mueenuddin’s “In other rooms, other wonders” will now compete with books by winners from the Africa, Caribbean and Canada, and South East Asia and Pacific regions for the overall prizes in the two categories, according to a press release issued by Commonwealth Foundation on Thursday.
Mr Dasgupta and Mr Mueenuddin would join some of the biggest names in fiction for the final programme of the competition that would commence on April 7 in New Delhi, said the press release.
The two overall winners would be announced on April 12. |
